Curriculum Vitae

Christina Katharina May is a curator and architectural historian, living and working in Halle (Saale), Germany.

She studied art history and dramatic theory at the University of Bochum, Germany, and holds a PhD in art history. She wrote her doctoral dissertation about zoo landscapes and architecture in the 20th century with a focus on the aesthetics of immersion, published under the title “Die Szenografie der Wildnis” (The Scenography of the Wilderness), Berlin 2020.

She worked for the Department of Culture, Heritage and Museums for the City of Rostock. She was the head of the Association of Artists for the State of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania and worked as a curator for modern and contemporary art at the Art Museum of Ahrenshoop and at the Staatliches Museum Schwerin.

Her studies focus on zoo architecture and artificial landscapes. Furthermore, she is engaged in exhibitions and research projects in the fields of art and architecture of the 20th and 21st century, especially in the fields of art in the GDR, and art and science.
